For this years Camberwell Open, part of Camberwell Arts week, Garudio Studiage bring you an exhibition made up of two 'Camberwell Special' projects in one space.

Via a 'Lucky Dip' allocation of venues, Garudio Studiage were given a vacant shop in The Butterfly Walk Sopping Centre and have created two new projects, taking their original home of Camberwell as a theme.

The 'Camberwell Specials' can be seen from Saturday 18th June to 26th June, at Butterfly Walk, Denmark Hill, London, SE5 8RW. For a map click here

Budget Budgies – Camberwell Special
 
Taking inspiration from the cut-throat world of budgerigar shows and natural history illustrations, 'Budget Budgies' celebrates the weird world of champion budgerigar breeding and gives it a high street twist.
 
 The bizarre yet beautiful exhibition, spots the similarities between budgie breeding and budget high street shops (in this case in Camberwell) bringing a wonderfully exotic display of feathered friends to The Butterfly Walk Shopping Centre. Whilst budgie owners obsess over pedigrees, colours and fanciful names, high street shops battle to grab the attention with bright logos and catchy slogans.
 
 With a bird for each brand, the hand drawn budgies have been 'bred' to sport the shops' corporate colours and given suitably lavish names, incorporating brand slogans, shedding new light on our familiar urban environment.

Flat Pets are the perfect partner for urban dwelling animal lovers everywhere. Normally happy inside their cosy homes, Flat Pets don't normally like going outside, but these ones are different. They are part of an ongoing project to see Flat Pets travel around the world and document their journeys, and this Camberwell Special is the latest in the series.
